I love the sun - but when it gets really hot out, I prefer that it doesn't shine so brightly into my house and heat the air to stifling proportions! And lately I have been very grateful for the blinds on the west facing sides of the house. They have definitely been fulfilling their purpose well! Amazing what something that seems so flimsy and insignificant can do to make our life more pleasant...hmmm...
